The Program
AFAP is a grassroots process that gives the community an opportunity to voice concerns and issues that affect quality of life in Vicenza and in the whole Army.
The 2010 USAG Vicenza AFAP Conference is 12-14 January 2010.
The Process
The local community submits issues year-round that have local, regional or Army-wide impact and that affect morale, retention and quality of life.
Issues not solved at the local level are further developed at an annual, local conference. Volunteers from the community decide which issues will be sent to the regional level.
The issues sent to the regional conference are once again ranked. The top issues move to an Army-wide conference. Some of the issues that make it to Army headquarters result in new laws, executive orders or changes to Army policy.
The Issues
The issues addressed through the AFAP process include:
New rule for transferability of GI Bill benefits to spouses and children
Eleven percent increase in Basic Allowance for Housing
Increase from $50,000 to $400,000 to Service Member’s Life Insurance
TRICARE for Life for Medicare-eligible retirees
Authorized dental and vision insurance coverage for federal employees
