A Family Readiness Group is an organization of family members, volunteers, and soldiers belonging to a unit, that together provide information and assistance to others in the group. They provide a network of communication between the family members, the chain of command, community resources, and create an atmosphere of mutual support within the group.
Vicenza Military Community
Translator and Interpreter Program Services (TIPS)
The ACS offers this valuable resource to the entire Vicenza Community through volunteers at the Mobilization/Deployment Office. Please see below for FAQs concerning eligible projects for translation through ACS.
Q - Can ACS translate certificates?
A – Yes. Acceptable translations include translations of birth, marriage, death certificates as well as jump certificates and residency certifications.
Q - Can phone calls be interpreted through ACS?
A – Yes. Simple phone calls to off post agencies and verbal translations can also be completed on the customer’s behalf although the TIPS volunteers are not permitted to deal with Italian utilities providers such as Enel, AIM, or Telecom. In such cases, they will be directed to the Housing or Telecom Liaison offices as necessary.
Q – Can ACS translate legal or medical documents?
A – No. ACS does not have the proper authority to translate legal or medical documents. Customers will be directed to the Office of the SJA for legal matters and the USAD-V Administrative Section for medical issues. Alternatively, the customer may be referred to either Military One Source or off-post agencies for further assistance.
Q – Can ACS translate birth registrations?
A – No. Only the American Red Cross can perform TIPS for birth registration and all requests for assistance with birth registrations received by ACS Staff will be promptly referred to the American Red Cross. Please call the ARC at DSN 634-7089 or CIV 39-0444-71-7089.
Q – Can ACS interpret for my wedding?
A – No. Volunteers with ACS TIPS will not assist with marriages.
Q – How do I submit a project to ACS for translation or interpretation?
A – Requests will be only accepted in-person at ACS.
Q – Can I volunteer with the ACS TIP Services?
A – Yes! ACS is looking to recruit volunteers with the required level of language communications proficiency to serve as either interpreters (oral) or translators (written). Primary emphasis will be on the Italian language; however, maximum diversity of other non-English language speaking volunteers is highly desirable.
